CPR
What is CPR?
"Short for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. An emergency procedure in which the heart and lungs are made to work by manually compressing the chest overlying the heart and forcing air into the lungs. CPR is used to maintain circulation when the heart stops pumping, usually because of disease, drugs, or trauma."

So what the definition means is that CPR allows someone to continue their life, it doesn't allow PHYSICAL death.
What is PHYSICAL death?
The separation of the Spirit from the mortal body. When the physical body dies, the Spirit continues to live in the Spirit world. We overcome physical death through resurrection, which was made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Let's take a step back a little bit:
In the Pre-Mortal phase of the Plan of Salvation, we were spirits. When we came down to Earth, we obtained a body. Inside our body is where the Spirit resides.
What is CPR, spiritually?
By doing CPR (which will be explained later), we would not go through spiritual death and we will be strong.
HELAMAN 5:12
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
With Jesus Christ being the CENTER of our lives, we would NOT fall. Jesus Christ is our Savior (meaning He saved the world - John 3: 16) and our Redeemer.
Build YOUR foundation on Jesus Christ.
So how do we OVERCOME spiritual death and live a life full of peace, happiness, joy and with direction. Through CPR (in spiritual sense)!
WHAT IS CPR?
C - Church
Church attendance is absolutely important! We can partake of the sacrament in which you renew your covenants that you have made when you got baptized. Another awesome thing about church is that you can learn about the Gospel and how to follow Jesus Christ through developing Christ-like attributes.
P - Prayer
Prayer is a direct communication between man and our loving Father in Heaven. We can talk to Him about ANYTHING! He is our LOVING Father in Heaven. He seeks to help us and He WILL, if we ask Him. Through prayer, we can receive revelation and through revelation, we can receive a testimony of the Gospel.
I have a strong testimony of the Gospel because of prayer. Prayer is one of the most BIGGEST thing in my life!
For the past year, I got a chance to live in Saudi Arabia. Yes, the far-away land of Saudi Arabia! I got a chance to attend this college preparatory high school who excels in every subject and also hold some of the top sports programs in the country. This school is English speaking, which was AWESOME. The downside is that there is a lot of the non-mormon influence there meaning that there is a lot of bad stuff going on such as drugs, cussing, smoking cigarettes and other terrible things. The biggest thing for me was the commute. I got to live in Jubail and the school was in Dhahran meaning that the commute time is ~1 1/2 hours. I got to wake up at 5 am and leave my house at 6 am to make it to school on time. Because of athletics and after-school programs, my bus leaves a hour after school which means that I don't get home until 5:30pm or so. Because I went to a college preparatory high school, I got to do a lot of homework. Because of that, I barely get any free time at home with my family.
These circumstances were extremely challenging for me because I spend more time around people who always radiates negative things (cussing etc) that I did NOT like to hear.
Prayer is what got me through. Yes, PRAYER got me through it. Heavenly Father was with me the entire time. I can talk to Him about ANYTHING. Prayer helped me stay on the "strait and narrow path". Prayer is what helped me the most last year.
R - Reading the Scriptures
"Have you ever heard the old saying that people who get lost tend to walk in circles? Without spiritual landmarks, mankind wanders as well. Without the word of God, we walk in circles...
This is undoubtedly the reason the Lord commanded Lehi to send his sons back to Jerusalem for the brass plates. God knew that the descendants of Lehi would need reliable landmarks—points of reference—that would provide a guide they could use to determine if they were on course.
The scriptures are the word of God. They are God’s landmarks that show the way we should travel in order to draw closer to our Savior and reach worthy goals." Dieter F Uchtdorf
Dieter F. Uchtdorf pretty much explained why we should read the scriptures! I can testify to you that the scriptures are true. I posted this on one of my posts on this blog. It reads:
Any of you can find out if the Book of Mormon contains the true word of God and that He really does live. It is found in Moroni 10: 3-5. It reads:
3 Behold, I would exhort that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may KNOW THE TRUTH OF ALL THINGS.
When you pray and ask God with sincere faith, you WILL KNOW THE TRUTH OF ALL THINGS. He will answer you because He loves you and yes, He really does exist. He is literally our Father in Heaven. I can promise you that everything I just said is TRUE. Don't forget, our Savior, Jesus Christ as well as our Father in Heaven really do LIVE!
CPR
Church, prayer and reading the scriptures are what makes us yearn to follow Jesus Christ and as a result, we will find peace and pure happiness in our lives. As you do these three things, your spirit will be bright as the sun. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is the PERFECT example for us to follow. We NEED to "hold the iron rod" and strive to be like Jesus Christ.
I ask you, TONIGHT, to pray and ask God with "a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ" and He will "manifest the truth of it unto, by the power of the Holy Ghost".
Please message me on Facebook if you have ANY questions!
Thanks,
Elder McGrath
